AUSTIN HIGH GETS MUST-WIN VS. LEHMAN
THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Team of the Week: Austin High
Facing as close to a must-win can as you can get in the first week of district play, the Maroons defeated Lehman 38-14 behind a stingy defense and Charles Wright passing for 247 yards and three touchdowns. Austin High (2-1, 1-0 District 25-6A), which has games against district heavyweights Westlake and Lake Travis the next two weeks, led 17-14 entering the fourth, then blew the game open behind two touchdown passes from Wright and a 52-yard scoring run by Grayson Davis. Nick Anderson hauled in six passes for 147 yards and two scores for the Maroons, with Davis finishing with 82 yards on the ground. Colby Kalbacher also had six receptions, tallying 72 yards and a score. The Maroon defense held the Lobos (1-2, 0-1) to less than 250 yards of offense, and Holden O’Kelley returned an interception 79 yards for a TD.
Player of the Week: Nick Anderson, Austin High
Anderson could not be covered in the Maroons’ 38-14 win over Lehman, hauling in TD catches of 21 and 54 yards on his way to 147 yards receiving.
Honorable mention: Blaise Darbyshire, Anderson: Darbyshire kicked a 42-yard field goal with 30 seconds left to give the Trojans (3-0, 1-0) a 20-17 win over Del Valle. It marked his second field goal of the game — he hit from 19 yards in the second quarter — and he also converted both extra points. Joey Baran rushed for 124 yards and Carsten Groos threw and ran for a score to pace the Anderson offense.
